Sand painting animation

Every now and then I come across something I have never seen before when photographing an event. I really like when people are able to take an regular event and add something that makes it memorable.

I was doing photographs for a client at a celebration for a non-profit that runs hospitals and schools in Hong Kong. I like when the people putting the event together surprise me with a novel way to tell the story of what they are doing.

For this event they had a group of students do a form of sand animation, that I had never seen before. The kids would cue up and each one would move sand, or draw or write something new. The audience was watching all of this on large projectors, the whole process was very interesting.

Thank you for surprising me. Made my day.
